The John A. Burns School of Medicine utilizes innovative learning methods including standardized patients, manikin simulations, and a tutorial-based, student-centered system called Problem-Based Learning (PBL). An orientation to the JABSOM curriculum will be held on August 24 and December 14, 2012, 1:00-4:30 p.m., in the Auditorium, 3rd floor of the Medical Education Building.

The orientation will include an explanation of PBL and the opportunity to take part in a PBL exercise. A description of the entire educational program and a tour of the facilities will also be provided. This session is strongly recommended for those applying or planning to apply to JABSOM.

Where to Go on Demo Day

Sign-in and and pick up your packet at the Medical Education Building of the John A. Burns School of Medicine at Kaka’ako ( 651 Ilalo Street) in the 3rd floor Auditorium. The MEB main entrance is to the left of the three flagpoles on Ilalo Street, facing makai.

Getting to JABSOM and Parking

For directions to JABSOM >> Click here. Metered street parking is available for $0.75/hour along Ilalo Street and nearby streets. (NOTE: Do not park in the Kakaako Waterfront Park--your car may be towed away). Paid parking is also available in Lot C of the medical school, located on the Ewa side of the campus. The entrance to Lot C is on Ilalo Street between Keawe Street and Forrest Avenue.

TheBus also serves the Kaka'ako area: #19, 20, 55, 56, 57, and 65 stop at Ala Moana Boulevard and Coral Street, one block mauka from the medical school. For routes and times: >> The Bus
