"University of Hawaii PBL Manual" is now available from Yodosha Co., Ltd. This new publication should be a valuable resource for Japanese medical educators using problem-based learning in their curriculum. The book was supervised by Kiyoshi Kurokawa, MD, MACP; and edited by Yasuhara Tokuda, MD, Mitsumasa Kishimoto, MD, and Gordon Greene, PhD. Chapter 1, An Introduction to PBL, was written by Greene and translated by Nakaya Saito, MD. Chapter 2, PBL in Hawaii, was written by Greene and Seiji Yamada, MD, and translated by Nakaya Saito, MD. Chapter 3, 13 Hawaii PBL Cases (presented in a new format for Japanese students and residents), was translated by a team of Japanese physicians who are doing or have completed residency training in Hawaii.
